The Rt. Rev. Dr. Audrey C. Scanlan
Bishop Diocesan
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Audrey C. Scanlan is the first Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of the Susquehanna. She was elected at the joint Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania and the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem on October 18, 2025.
The Rt. Rev. Kevin D. Nichols
Assistant Bishop
The Rt. Rev. Kevin D. Nichols was appointed Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of the Susquehanna on October 18, 2025. He was appointed by Bishop Scanlan immediately following her election to serve as Bishop Diocesan. Bishop Nichols will be put forth for election as the next Bishop of the Diocese of the Susquehanna when Bishop Scanlan retires in October of 2027.
The Episcopal Transition Plan
During the reunification discernment process, Bishop Scanlan and Bishop Nichols decided through their own discernment and mutual decision, that Bishop Scanlan would be presented for election as Bishop Diocesan and Bishop Nichols for appointment as Assistant Bishop at the 2025 joint Annual Convention. After reunification on January 1, 2026, both Bishops began serving the Diocese of the Susquehanna pastorally, liturgically, and administratively in their new roles.
In October of 2027, Bishop Scanlan plans to retire. At that time, Bishop Nichols will be put forth for election as the next Bishop of the Diocese of the Susquehanna. Bishop Nichols plans to retire in February 2030, following the search and election process for the next bishop diocesan.
