Companion Diocese of Kajo Keji, South Sudan
The Diocese of the Susquehanna’s companion relationship with the Diocese of Kajo Keji originated with the Diocese of Bethlehem. This long term relationship has flourished through mutual prayer, visitation, education, and exchange of resources. Companion diocese relationships strengthen the Anglican Communion through the direct experience of interdependence across cultural and geographical boundaries, as dioceses in the companion relationship are both a giver and a receiver.
New Hope is a ministry of the Diocese of the Susquehanna dedicated to helping educate youth in the Diocese of Kajo Keji. Since its inception in 2007, the New Hope Campaign has raised over $5 million in gifts and trust income supporting our brothers and sisters of South Sudan by building, renovating, and providing funds for books, supplies, and scholarships. The New Hope campaign has:
- Funded the construction and operations of Kajo Keji Christian College with degree programs in theology, teaching, and business administration including classrooms, dormitories, a library, and dining hall.
- Built five primary schools with 200-400 students evenly split between boys and girls.
- Built one high school with a computer science education program supporting 4 grades, including three dormitories for those traveling long distances by foot.
- The Bishop’s residence and offices.
Other relationships include Parish to Parish, the Diocese of the Susquehanna’s Episcopal Church Women to the Diocese of Kajo Keji’s Mother’s Union, and Bishop to Bishop.
