Grants

Shaped by Faith grants are an invitation for all congregations in our Diocese to explore how to increase vitality and strength for God’s mission in collaboration with others. This opportunity is designed for multi-congregational / multiorganizational partnerships developing new programming or significantly enhancing or expanding existing programming.

Grants are for one year with the opportunity for continuation requiring a new application. Grant applications are reviewed monthly by the Mission Granting Committee and are due the first Wednesday of a month to be reviewed in that month.

Bishop Darlington Construction Grants are small grants to congregations for the purpose of new construction or capital repairs.

Grant applications are reviewed as received by the Diocesan Finance team and typically range between $2,500 to $5,000, with a total of approximately five (5) to seven (7) grants awarded annually.

Higher Education Engagement Grants are available to congregations seeking to engage with students attending institutions of higher education within the geographic region of The Episcopal Diocese of the Susquehanna.

Grant applications are reviewed as received by the Diocesan Finance team and typically amount $500, with a total of up to six (6) grants awarded annually.

The Society of the Episcopal Church for the Advancement of Christianity in Pennsylvania is an organization that supports congregations across all of Pennsylvania with financial grants for ministry projects.

This grant provides assistance for a variety of needs: repairs and installation of heating systems, roof and spouting repairs, driveways and parking lot repaving, carpeting, overdue bills, rectory repairs, electrical improvements, etc.

The Society is made up of both laypeople and clergy; it meets three times each year to consider grant applications, in January, May, and October. To apply for this grant, send a letter of request stating your need in detail, an appraisal of the work to be completed, and a signed copy of your recent parochial report to Steve Baker. Applications must be received by the Diocesan Office by December 15, April 15, or September 15 and must be approved by the Bishop. The Society accepts only one request in a twelve month period by any congregation.

The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Learn about UTO grants.

All applications must be submitted via email to Paula Lapinski at least a month in advance of the stated deadline. Applications will then be considered for submission to the UTO. Only one application may be submitted per diocese.

The National Fund for Sacred Spaces was established in 2016 to provide technical and financial support for congregations, building their capacity and increasing the stability of these critical yet disappearing historic community centers.
