EfM Immersion Experience on Zoom

Do you want to know more about the Bible, Christian Tradition, and Church History? Are you hoping to understand how your personal experiences and beliefs bring you closer to God and God’s people?

If “yes,” EfM – Education for [Lay] Ministry – may be for you.

EfM is a Christian formation program designed for lay persons by the School of Theology, University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. Through study, prayer, worship, and reflection, EfM small seminar groups throughout the world journey together through scripture, church history, and practical theology. More than a Bible study, EfM learners engage with, respond to, and reflect upon our Christian tradition and what that means for our own lives in this complex world.

“Following Jesus” is the theme for 2026-27. Each learner selects one of five 36-session areas of study for the year:
1) Old Testament
2) New Testament
3) Christian History
4) Christian Ethics and Spirituality

or

5) Wide Angle — an overview of the first four areas, and perfect for people who are new to main-line Christianity, who have little time for study, or who just want a review.

The first four areas must be taken in order, since they build upon each other. Wide Angle may be taken at any time. Seminar groups may include learners from different study areas which broadens perspectives, deepens discussions, and enriches insights.

Join Diocesan EfM Coordinators Cathy Bailey and Mary Novello for an EfM Immersion Experience on Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participate in a mini-EfM session with Engage, Respond, and Reflect modules, and ask questions about the program. Limited seating.
