Bishops in Residence: Bishop Scanlan Visits the Northeast Region
This year, each bishop will spend three days in residence in each of the four regions of the diocese: the northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest. The Canon Missioner for that region will coordinate these visits, planning time for the bishop to worship and fellowship with the members of this region. Activities may include a gathering of lay leaders, meetings with clergy, visits to places of interest in the region, and opportunities for recreation.
This month, Bishop Audrey Scanlan will visit the Northeast Region March 10–12. The schedule includes both planned gatherings with various communities and ministries as well as more public events (noted below):
Tuesday, March 10
10 a.m. — A visit to Christ Church, Susquehanna to see their new kitchen under construction.
10:45 a.m. — A tour of the new Senior Center at St. Mark’s, New Milford.
Noon — Lunch at Green Gables Restaurant, New Milford, with parish leaders from the region. Any vestry members or ministry leaders interested in joining, please contact Canon Melinda Artman.
2 p.m. — A private meeting at St. Paul’s, Montrose.
Wednesday, March 11
Late morning: A tour of Cypress House Bakery at St. Luke’s, Scranton.
Noon (public) — Worship with the congregation at St. Luke’s midday healing service, the Rev. Tyler Perry presiding.
2 p.m. (public) — A Holy Hike at Frances Slocum State Park in Dallas. This will be an easy to moderate hike of about 3 miles. Hikers will meet at Grace Church, Kingston (park on the street) and head to Frances Slocum together. Water and snacks will be provided. Thursday, March 12
Noon (public) — Noonday prayer at Prince of Peace, Dallas, the Rev. Joe Rafferty presiding, followed by lunch and fellowship with Luzerne County Episcopalians (formerly Convocation II), hosted by Episcopal Church Women.
