Bishops in Residence: Bishop Scanlan Visits the Southwest Region
This year, each bishop will spend three days in residence in each of the four regions of the diocese. The Canon Missioner for that region will coordinate these visits, planning time for the bishop to worship and fellowship with the members of this region. Activities may include a gathering of lay leaders, meetings with clergy, visits to places of interest in the region, and opportunities for recreation. To suggest ideas for your regional three-day visit, connect with your Regional Canon Missioner. A schedule of events will be shared on the diocesan calendar as it is created.
Bishop Scanlan will visit the Southwest Region September 8-10. Her schedule includes these public and semi-public gatherings:
Tuesday, September 8
- 12:30-2:30 p.m. Lunch at St. John, York. All are welcome, especially the Southern Convocation parishes. RSVP to St. John’s Office Administrator, Tory Dunkle, at [email protected].
- 5 p.m. Hike with St. Mary’s, Waynesboro at Buttonwood Nature Center followed by a cookout at 6 p.m. All are welcome. Please RSVP to the Rev. Ginger Bennett for the hike and/or cookout at [email protected].
Wednesday, September 9
- 9 a.m. Breakfast and conversation at Prince of Peace, Gettysburg (private).
- 7 p.m. Southwest Regional Confirmation Service at St. James, Lancaster. Clergy who wish to send someone for confirmation, reaffirmation, or reception at this service should contact Nichol Free by August 21 for a document that must be completed for parish records.
Thursday, September 10
- 9 a.m. Visit to Hershey Botanical Gardens with All Saints, Hershey. All are welcome. Purchase tickets here.
- 12 p.m. Lunch at Mount Calvary, Camp Hill.
