The Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers is a renowned preacher, teacher and leader around progressive Christianity in America. The author of The Church Cracked Open and Radical Welcome, her newest book – Church Tomorrow? What the Nones and Dones Teach Us About the Future of Faith – wrestles with the decline of traditional religion and the spiritual wisdom of nonreligious Millennials and Gen Zers. After nearly a decade overseeing The Episcopal Church’s work on evangelism, racial reconciliation, social justice and church planting, she currently serves as Canon in Residence at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City. Canon Spellers will guide us into a deeper understanding of what it means to listen to those at the edges, particularly Millennials and Gen Z who are seeking meaning, but wary of institutions.
With both prophetic clarity and pastoral wisdom, she invites us to reimagine church as a space of authentic belonging, courageous witness, and Spirit-led transformation.

3:30 p.m. — Guided Discussion & Reflection
Together, we will engage the questions that matter:
- What are the “Nones” and “Dones” revealing about faith today?
- What assumptions must we release?
- Where is the Spirit already at work beyond our walls?
We will also explore:
- The Crossing — a groundbreaking emerging church rooted in radical inclusion
- The practice of Radical Welcome as more than hospitality — as transformation.
This is not a lecture. It is a shared discernment.
