The Feast of Absalom Jones

Join the Union of Black Episcopalians Bishop Baxter Chapter for this year’s celebration of The Feast of Absalom Jones at St. Paul’s, Harrisburg.

The program will begin with the Dr. George H. Love Youth Awards given to our youth for their participation in the Absalom Jones Contest, Saturday February 14 at 10 am. This year’s theme is “Keep Going, No Matter What,” which speaks to the importance of prayer, planning, preparation, and perseverance. Children and youth are invited to participate. Following this we will have lunch is from 12:00-1:30 p.m. with students, parents, and all guests welcome to join in the food and fellowship.

Next, the Rt. Rev. Eugene Sutton, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Maryland, will speak from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the topic of repair and reparations. This will be followed by a celebration of African American vespers.

The following day, Bishop Sutton will preach at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s 10:00 a.m. service. We are fortunate to have Howard University’s gospel choir join us for this service as well.
