Transitus of Francis

The year 2026 is the 800th anniversary of the death of Francis of Assisi. Saint Francis of Assisi abandoned a life of luxury for a life devoted to Christianity after reportedly hearing the voice of God, who commanded him to rebuild the Christian church and live in poverty. A worldwide religious order was created to follow his teachings. To commemorate the event, St John’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster and the Community of Francis and Clare will have a special service on October 3, 2026 @ 7:00pm at the church. The service is called “The Transitus of our Brother Francis” and will include prayers, scripture, music, and incense.
